HIP 9

Have you ever been to South Dakota in the winter time? If so, you know it would be one tough climate to grow up in! Especially on a Quarter Horse ranch with stalls to clean, mares to breed, babies to halter break, colts to ride and horses to train and show. Also, let us not forget snow-to-shovel and yet, it all falls into the category of the blessings and trials of doing what you love!

Amye wouldn’t change a thing about growing up in the barn, in the saddle and on the road showing. Her training background grew as she spent extended time with numerous trainers in the midwest. Always riding horses she trained and finished herself, she showed for years at AQHA shows across the country in both English and western events.

Amye raised both of her kids in the saddle. Her daughter now runs a large lesson barn in Nebraska and also shows AQHA/VRH. Her son is an avid and well accomplished team roper. The icing on the cake is that Amye’s grandchildren are now being raised on horses, as well. Talk about a full heart!  To ride together, three generations strong, is the greatest blessing of all.

Just to be able to do what we love makes us all very blessed indeed. To do so on wonderful, finished horses with the people we cherish and enjoy the most–is God’s greatest gift. These special, well rounded horses must be made and that is the work of the heart that Amye has chosen. She now resides near Kansas City, Missouri and dedicates long days to installing fancy buttons on beautiful horses. Rather it is a ranch horse show with good friends, or a scenic trail ride in new country–it is all considered on the job training for Amye’s horses. Her solid, confident geldings must be ready to go to a horse show, navigate a rugged trail, or join into fun family shenanigans upon demand.

When one of Amye’s talented geldings lands in the grateful hands of a new family and that horse helps someone else live out their bucket list dreams and achieve new goals  – it is mission accomplished!
