Cole Matier

Cole Matier is a North Texas based trainer specializing in reining horses and cow horses. He has spent several years working under multiple million-dollar riders across various sectors of the Western performance horse industry, gaining experience, mentorship, and a foundation built on elite horsemanship.

His program focuses on two-year-olds, futurity prospects, and derby horses. Cole operates under the slogan “Elite Standards Prevail,” a philosophy rooted in holding himself and his horses,to the highest level of craftsmanship, and performance. Even as a young trainer, he remains closely connected to top-level mentors, continually seeking their guidance and refining his approach.

“If you think you know everything you can’t learn anything and I always want to be learning everyday ,”he says. One of his favorite quotes comes from Ray Hunt, the godfather of horsemanship: “It takes a lifetime to learn how to live a lifetime.” That mindset shapes his entire program.
